The Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

How can we be the change we would want to see? Are you willing to do everything for a dream?

It has been known that February is Black History Month, and it must also be celebrated the way we celebrate other important events. We must also be aware and give recognition to respect what African Americans have made in the United States, which has been downplayed for many years. Even today, black history is still being made as they made many milestones and new achievements.

Histories are part of our past that have enabled us to grow more and know more about our ancestors. To some, history is our thing to be remembered. At the same time, to some, they are something to be proud of, and they continually do what their ancestors have started. Although not all histories are good stories from the past, we must consider studying them and learning from them. Remember that being part of history is something, but being part of a good history is more rewarding.

In this solo episode, Dr. Derrick Burgess will share one of his first major speaking engagements from five years ago. This inspirational speech was from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Foundation, where he was also once a scholar student. Tune in today as we discover the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, as well as Dr. Burgess' goal growing up as a young child wanting to become a physician.

"I'm a living testimony that any senior in the audience here tonight, my children, your children, any adolescent can know that their dreams are achievable, that dreams are possible. Having dreams and manifesting them is possible."– Dr. Derrick Burgess.
