Wesley Thompson is a Husband, Father, Pastor, Chaplain, Author, Educator and Community Activist. A native of Florence, Alabama, he is a 2010 graduate of the University of North Alabama where he received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Political Science and Minor in Philosophy/Religion. He received a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Congregational Ministry from Mercer University in 2014. While at Mercer University, he received the school's prestigious John R. Claypool Preaching Award and also the Ollie Key Leadership Award.
Wesley serves as the proud Senior Pastor/Teacher of the Bethel Colbert Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama. Under Pastor Thompson's 5 years of leadership, Bethel Colbert has flourished in spirit and in membership, striving to be used by God to Save Souls, Change Lives, and Transform Communities. He also works at Amedisys Hospice as a Chaplain.
He has received various awards for education and community service, and has given much time advocating for justice and equality through organizations such as the NAACP(Vice-President/Religion Affairs Chairperson), Crossroads Community Outreach(Member of Board of Directors), Muscle Shoals District Missionary Baptist Association(1st Vice Moderator), Common Ground Shoals (Board Of Directors Chairperson), and Project Say Something. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He most recently ran as the Democrat nominee for the office of Alabama State House Representative District 3, where he was able to engage and educate a wide range of young and new voters about important political issues that impact their lives and communities.
Wesley is married to his college sweetheart Mrs. Le’Tanndra Thompson, and they have three sons. Miles, Bradley, and Jeremiah.
